Dear god I wanna fucking STRANGLE some of the idiots at work...
We had an all-hands meeting today.
They filled us in on how our plant is doing financially and stuff.
Then, they talked about the price of gas going up and the possibility of moving to 12 hour days to help reduce the cost of traveling to work for employees.
After a bit of bitching from some of the employees during the question time for the 12 hour days idea, I suggested that they only move the areas of the plant that are working overtime every week(like my area) to the 12 hour days and leaving the rest on 8 hour days.
Most people seemed to think it was a decent idea, and even the plant manager thought so.
On the way to clock out after the meeting(it lasted right up to quitting time), one of my fellow operators in my area was bitching about how she has kids and her daycare isn't open long enough for her to work 12 hour days and other such bullshit.
Funny thing is, she's got some damned doctor's excuse that says she doesn't work overtime anyways. She has no idea what it's like working 7 days a fucking week.
When I get back from my vacation next week, I'm going to try and talk with the plant manager more about my idea.
Only thing I didn't like about their suggested 12 hour days schedule is they wanted to do an "every other weekend off" plan.
It basically means that there would be 4 shifts total. 2 day shifts, and 2 night shifts, both of which would be an "A" and "B" group.
Their idea is to have the A shifts work Monday-Thursday one week, and Friday - Sunday the next week. The B shifts would work the opposite, basically. That seems a little too confusing and pointless to me.
IMHO they should just have the A shifts work Monday-Thursday one week, and Monday - Wednesday the next week.
The B shifts would then work Friday-Sunday that first week, and Thursday-Sunday the next week.
They could ask each employee which of the shifts they would like to work and change around the groups accordingly.
I would DIE if I could have the weekends off and have either 3 or 4 days off every week...
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
