what follows is legal jazzum and jargon, of precious little interest.
i decided to bite the bullet and pay for a speeding ticket online, well ahead of the court date of 11/25, but was informed on the website that the ticket was in fact due on 11/11, and that on the 25th a warrant will be issued for my arrest. strangely, i could find nothing anywhere on my ticket (printed cheaply on electronic receipt paper as it was) saying anything about this mysterious date, the eleventh. nothing in the slightest. i'm not shocked by such a blatantly false declaration issued by the municipal court of st. louis, because needless to say, i've had firsthand experience with the courts around town.
when i had a nearly fatal car accident that wasn't my fault, it was the courts that demanded a guilty plea anyway.
when rushing to the hospital to see if my lil' brother had survived his brain surgery, the traffic cop who snagged me for speeding tossed it off with a "tell it to the court."
in this case, i presume i could prove that the ticket is rather false in its information, while incurring court fees, legal representative fees, and the threat of having the fine tripled (or more), which makes this little traffic issue look like a cakewalk. which is, of course, the idea, which is why i am unable to fight it, and that....ah yes!....is how the game is played.
especially in tough times like these, i can not only see why people like ol' cookie thornton shot up city hall, but also sympathize. utterly. whether i will ever reach that state is doubtful (that is to merely say, improbable), but i reiterate that the only truly immoral thing a human being can do is to willingly do harm, in any shape, to any one else for personal gain.
i don't disapprove of revenge when properly pursued. all power to those who do! this new depression will have its share of antiheroes.
okay, no more legal idioventing. let us move on.
