It occurs to me that I haven't posted in ages. Not that anyone on this vast plane we call the internet would miss a post, but it does seem that I should at least post tri-monthly.

So. I suppose one of the biggest developments is that I've finally broken down and read Harry Potter - I resisted for eighteen years (and still refuse to read The Hunger Games), but I decided I might as well give them a go and I'm glad I did. Snape -oh, excuse me, /Professor/ Snape - is brilliant. I do hold just a little bead of smug satisfaction that I was right about him being on the 'good side' all along. Actually, when I finished the seventh book, I was literally dancing around my house, sing-songing under my breath, "Snape was good and Dumbledore was a manipulative coot!" Needless to say, I do not much like Dumbledore. Greater good my aunt.

This morning's sermon was fantastic. The preacher started off with a LotR illustration and finished with a quote from The Last Battle. He also said a couple things that really made me think - along with a couple things that made me think of odd literary connections. For instance, he said something about us being created to serve and that made me think, "In the beginning, if we hadn't Fallen, would we have been like the House Elves - our highest delight to serve?" And then that made me think of Dean. (I know, I know, Dean and House Elves? Hang with me.) Because whatever else you might say about Dean, he understood serving. His entire life, he served. And I really think that is a large part of why he is so attractive. There is something intrinsically pleasing about a man serving others. Another thing the pastor said was that we were made to live as servants /under God's rule/. That, for some reason, brought to mind that part in The Avengers, where Loki says that we humans are "made to be ruled." Yes, Loki, we were. But not by the god that you are thinking.

Too contemplative for having been quiet for so many months? Maybe. But it's always nice to get thoughts written out and down. So now, for the next three or so months - Ta.

harry potter, spoilers, real life, spn, the bible, truth, dean, thinky thoughts, god, books
