Man, the presentation day for film classes is always exhausting! This time, my camera had quit working normally about 75% of the way through shooting, so I had no idea whether or not that last part of the project had even worked! It didn't. It was mostly okay still though, because the professor could see what I was meaning to shoot - the tape just recorded weird lines in between lines of the actual action. That doesn't really make sense, but just trust me - it was weird, but you could see the action beyond the obvious technical problems. It turned out okay because the problem was 100% not my fault, and couldn't be corrected by anything I did, so I'm off the hook. Plus Professor McNamara is good at detecting the intent (plus he's really nice). It's a little disappointing that the camera screwed up though, just because I think it would've been a pretty decent video, and I was excited to show people what we made this weekend. I'll still show everyone, but now with a disclaimer. It's not really a piece of art anymore. But oh well.
The class did like the video anyway, and they had good things to say about it. It's weird after you show your video, because they have a little discussion about it, and you just sit there listening to their analysis. It's always nice, but definitely weird because you don't input anything unless they are totally off. I bet it is weird for real artists and writers to read papers and such about their works.
Also, the class was really cute/funny when the problems came up. I had warned them that there might be weird stuff at the end, but then when it actually happened, all the girls were like "oh nooo", and really sad for me that my footage got screwed up. And the boys were like "hey that's artsy, i like it even better", in that boy way of trying to make me feel better. It was great.
My pants smell like I mowed the lawn. It's kinda gross and very mysterious.
I just had a weird dream where Prayer and Praise Night was actually a sort of band practice. And Mommy and a bunch of ladies from our corps had started doing bizarre crafts before it, so they were showing them to me.
I was so busy this weekend doing my video project that I only have about 5 pictures. It was definitely a fun weekend ~ and although I kinda missed out on some fun, I was also really glad to have friends around to help me with my shooting and make that part of the weekend WAY better than it could have been.
