Tonight was kinda lame and a little exciting - the brakes on my car crapped out, but at first they were just a little funky, so I went to the mall as planned. And then when I left the mall (with some clothes and a Limited credit card because as much as I don't like to sign up for store credit cards, I HAVE bought all of my clothes there these last few months), the brakes were extra scary and the WARNINGYOURBRAKESAREBAD light was on and the car was beeping non-stop super loudly. So I went to the first car repair place I found, which just happened to be in the mall parking lot (praise the Lord!). They were closing but the guy was very nice and let me in, and then we were getting things set so I'd leave my car to get fixed in the morning. But then I called Shannon, and she didn't have a car, and then I called Dave, and he didn't answer, and everyone else I know lives far away. So I was going to call a cab or start calling the far away people, but the Firestone guy seemed pretty confident that I could make it home if I just went slow and stopped extra slow. So I did that, I just inched home, and it was okay but kinda scary and super annoying with that beeping.
Anyway, I survived and tomorrow I have a pretty short drive to another car place that's close to here and close to THQ, so Dave Minter is coming to pick me up, and it will be no big deal from here. I mean, it will be a bit of money, but whatever. Shannon and her mom were really cute too, they were so nervous for me when I was driving, and Shannon was going to call all kinds of other people to try to get me, and she has two sick babies here and is not feeling great herself, so it was sweet of her to be so concerned about me and my car. :)
It is pretty inconvenient how everyone lives so far away here. I mean, of course I would rather be home when having car problems, and I can just call my daddy and make him take me to Persons'. But even if people here weren't all spread out, living 45 minutes away from their workplaces and such, that would be easier. Because I know enough people that I could have found someone to pick me up at that place, if it were like Kalamazoo where everyone lives within 20 minutes. But someone has to be a serious BEST FRIEND if you're going to get them to drive more than a half hour to come rescue you from a car place. Lame!
