I finally changed the background here, annnnd I am very happy about that.
I applied to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco....it's the school that Btoy and Ctoy went to (who are of course people I don't really know, but have met online and know people who know them, etc). It seems like a good enough school, and it has a good website and a nice-sounding MFA program. The weird thing is that they don't have pictures of their campus on the website that I could find, and they take applications until like the week before classes start, which makes me wonder what is going on there. But I don't know that I need to go to the most prestigious school in the world, especially since it's soooo hard to figure out which film schools are good in the first place, so as long as I'd be satisfied with how much I was learning, I don't think I'd mind if it was a little weird there. Also maybe I'd be able to pay for some with scholarships (?), which would help since I'm not necessarily planning on getting a high-paying job right away from this education. Mostly I just want to learn how to make a movie WELL instead of just mediocre-ly. So somehow I need to find out if I would go and be disappointed, or if I'd be happy not to be overwhelmed, or what. An admissions lady called me today and was nice, and made the school seem unpretentious which is nice, but you can't tell quality from that. Dave suggests I visit there.......I would suggest that to myself if it weren't in CALIFORNIA. Hmm. Anyway I still have to send my transcript and statement of intent and other such things, so maybe I won't be accepted anyway. And then I'll know it's a quality school, but I won't be actually able to attend then. Ouch! :D
Oh, also the lady on the phone said that sometimes students there mix in a little photography study, which sounds GREAT b/c I always want to study everything, and that would be obviously cool to actually be taught some photography. But also it makes it sound weirder if you can do extra things while at grad school. ?
I love Claire!
