i just got back from visiting an old roommate/friend at her and her family's farm in southern indiana (gibson county, y'all!). it was a really awesome weekend!!

highlights include:
> visiting the "towns" my grandfather and grandmother were born in
(frisco and somerville, respectively)
> talking with sarah about old times and things with our new mature perspectives
> eating food that sarah cooked, because she is a professional chef and *damn* can she cook!
> talking with cows
> cuddling up in a futon with my sweetheart and heavy blankets
> woodburning stove!
> climbing around a combine
> two funny cats
> sharing sweet potato pie with loved ones
> using fake dumb voices that we used to use when we talked for our pets
> reading ridiculous local "newspaper" that should have been called "rubberneckers times"
> tour of family cemetary
> gaining even more admiration for my friend and the way she lives her life

it is difficult to know how to navigate around my personal politics and my friends' new life choices. back in the day when she was vegan, we were on the same page. and now we are not. i see so much awesomeness about her and her politics and really support her decisions, but i cannot support her choice to eat meat - no matter where it came from. but, our history as friends forces me to overlook it. i guess this is what happens. and i accept her choices, but i never want to have a conversation about it.
