who lives in michigan?!

i guess i do now.

about moving:

i had the most wonderful army of fags moving me in! soon, i'll edit/update this entry to include a foto or two of my fag army, they're the best.

also, i never recommend driving with cats for a long time. all SPG did was yell at me the whole time. pobrecita. she's still yelling at me, but now it's all about, "this is where we live now?!"

about my apartment:

it is really cute. the living room walls are painted a fantastic blue color. my couch looks nice against the walls. my kitchen is tiny and stupid, but i like it a lot, too. my bedroom is small and perfect. it already feels very safe and comfortable. my bathroom is roomy, but had no shelving. my bathtub is really shallow, but i am glad i had a bathtub.
really, i'll include pictures at some point.

about ann arbor:

they are insane about parking here. i've never been a parking complainer, but holy holy shit, y'all, the parking situation up here is SO ridiculous. not only did dillon get towed yesterday ... but my landlord sent me a crazy person's map of how our cars should look in the driveway and it makes no sense and i was told we could get tickets in our driveway or towed out if it's not correct. woah, calm down parking police!!! why are you so demanding?! i was at the post office for less than five minutes this morning and i got a ticket. all i could think was, "haven't you had enough?!?!" parking in ann arbor is exasperating and mind-boggling.

i've eaten at three restaurants which were all tasty. 1) earthen jar, vegetarian indian food. tons of vegan options, tons of food in general. i took the fag army out for dinner here. it was interesting and everyone seemed to enjoy their mass amounts of by-the- pound indian food. 2) jerusalem garden (*tasty* falafels!!!) and 3) no thai! which had alright pad thai. the tofu was squishy goodness.

my only two friends in ann arbor came over monday night. they are lovely ladies and will hopefully be good friends. cookie and mira are both graduate students in rigorous programs.

about professional stuff:

i interviewed at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry (CFP). CFP is one of four remaining state hospitals in michigan. it's all about working with people that have committed some siginificant crime and are IST (incompetent to stand trial) or NGRI (not guilty by reason of insanity). they evaluate people and do a lot of diagnositcs for the courts. patients are at the CFP anywhere from 60 days to the rest of their lives. it seems like mostly long-termers there. i was treated in a certain way during my interview because i am woman and it made me think a lot about professionalism, apperances, classism and sexual harassment, but i have to stop rambling at some point, so i won't get into it now. and i was offered the placement and i accepted. 'cause i have no other prospects.

one of the women's prisons in michigan is right next door. i wish i was working there.

tomorrow is my first day of orientation. we'll see how it goes, i am certain i will update the ol' LJ regarding that experience, too.
