Back in the motherland

7:15-alarm goes off. promptly snoozed and went back to sleep

9:15-Dad calls. I'm awake.

10:00-go to bank to get money from freshly deposited paycheck

11:00-buy shinkansen ticket to Kansai Airport (8,900yen)

11:17-leave Fukuyama

12:25-arrive at Shin-Osaka. piddle around browsing souvenirs while waiting for express to airport

13:14-arrive at Kansai Airport. check-in.

13:30-browse souvenirs, bookshops, and restaurants

14:30-pass through security, proceed to gate

15:00 to 16:30-smoke in posh smoker's lounge, play around on the internet, read plane book

17:00 to 2:00-whine, crave nicotine, trapped between reclined seat and large woman from LA sleeping the whole flight, cannot sleep, pine for the days of free booze in economy, make mental note to upgrade for next long-distance flight

TIME WARP!

11:00 (PDT)-arrive in SFO, technically before I even got on a plane. I love that time difference.

11:15-very smoothly waved through customs

11:30 to 15:45-wait inside SFO on a gorgeous autumn in California day, eat fire-baked pizza, joy!

16:15 to 20:15-aisle seat with a vacant sandwich seat. JOY!!!

22:15 (CDT)-arrive in Chicago

22:45-picked up by Dad and big brother

0:00 (14:00, October 25th, Fukuyama time)-sleep the sleep of angels (priceless)
