I finally got around to submitting my passport application today. My old one was issued when I was a minor and expired a decade ago, so I couldn't just go through the renewal process. I decided to also apply for one of the new passport cards since I can keep that in my wallet and use it to visit Canada by land without worrying about the potential for losing my birth certificate while carrying it around, and once the new rules kick into effect, the driver's license + birth certificate combo won't work, anyway.
In a few weeks, I'll know whether or not my decision to fork over the extra $ for expedited processing was worth the cost. I'm hoping I'll get the chance to take a side trip to Vancouver while I'm visiting my uncle in Seattle, and I'd love to have a passport in my possession by then to avoid packing my birth certificate.
Since I was in the area, I stopped by the local comic shop and picked up a few issues of the Angel series that I was missing. I wanted to get some of the Buffy ones, too, but I wasn't 100% positive regarding which ones I already had (my TFAW subscriptions lapsed for a month or two after my previous debit card expired) so I'll have to make a return trip to fill in those gaps. I stumbled across the last issue of the Chuck comic they had by accident. I didn't even know it existed, but it does a good job of capturing the tone of the series.
I can't wait for the new TV seasons to start up. SGA is first up next week (although I'm really waiting for the second episode *cough*) and then there are returning favorites like Chuck that I'm looking forward to, plus shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds that I've gotten hooked onto during the past few months.
