La Fille Heureuse

Awwwwww yeeeeeeah.

Beginning of this week was so shitty, but now my Dad's gone off for 5 days to his Conway Club do, things have improved immeasurably. And I've actually been v industrious. Been packing for RADA and, being rather appropriate preparation for drama school, next few weeks I'm seeing loads of plays across the country- including 3 in one day on Wednesday! Arcadia, Three More Sleepless Nights (not a fan of Caryl Churchill, she writes the most depressing and doom-laden plays ever but we'll see) and a weird crazy late night cabaret about Spanish miners falling in love and singing about it. What's not to love?

Also, cause I is a good drama student, I've been reading Shakespeare plays I've never got round to before. So far, done Antony and Cleopatra (politics in a play...mm, preferred it when they were declaiming passionate love, politics does not make for a rivetting stage play), Pericles (went downhill when it started rhyming and Prince P described the sea as a "tennis court" and himself as the ball. Plus HILL-AIR-REE-US moment when Marina's just about be assassinated when, ENTER THREE PIRATES. For like 3 lines. Best.cameo.ever. My friend played Pericles on the Foundation RADA course and a pirate who genuinely said "arggggghhh!") Now moved onto Timon of Athens, which is OK so far but a bit more fairytale-y.

Do you know the only "exam" so to speak at RADA is at the end of your second year, when you have to a presentation on your stage fighting? I.e you design a scene from a specific era of history/play and choreograph a fight. Yeah. My exams own your exams.

BUT, highlight of the week. Due to being trapped and with no chance of getting back on the car insurance before the end of the summer (my parents' decision, I add, not mine) my Mum suggested maybe I could take a trip before I go away. Thus: 90% I AM GOING TO PARIS FOR A WEEKEND WITH ALEX. Alex gave a very satisying reaction when I broached it on the phone, "Oh my God! I'd love to!" and "That's the nicest thing anyone's asked me in half a decade." Do you see why I want to take this nice man with me? He's having such a lovely holiday in Cornwall, he and his Mum are staying an extra day. I even found the ideal hotel and it's called Hotel du Theatre. Meant to be, baby. Last 10% now is convincing Dad...

Then, holy freaking hell for complications, I go to Alex's for Sunday night, get a lift home with Gail (yaaay, who I've not seen since 'Tis Pity) then Alex over Tuesday night so we can go up to London together on Wednesday for a day of plays. Then him home with Mum and me for Wed night. Already it's a cool week. AND I AM PROBABLY GOING TO MY FAVOURITE CITY IN THE WORLD WITH MY FAVOURITE MAN IN THE WORLD AT THE END OF THE MONTH. *dies of happy*
