Exciting end of the year stuff!
PROCEED :)

I think I've done this survey every year for about five years now... crazy!
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
- A real, legit internship!
- Wrote a spec script
- Went to Montreal
- Received letters from Korea :P
- Played WhirlyBall - Google it. It exists.
- Went paintballing
- Became an owner of a budgie, named Twitter, much to my surprise
- Visited Cuppa Coffee studios, which is the "largest full-service stop motion facility in the world." Amazing and so much fun.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
- I did, actually. I took a photo (or more) a day. See below for the result :)
- I'm stepping up with a similar project involving video. I'd like to work on my editing 'skills' and creativity. I already have the materials, just need the motivation!
- I'd also like to try HDR photography... it looks intense...
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
- Well, literally close to me, my desk neighbour at etalk had a baby girl
4. Did anyone close to you die?
- Thankfully, no.
5. What countries did you visit?
- Just a weekend in Connecticut for a wedding, twas quite fun
- And still in Canada but I went to Cdn Niagara Falls for a photo-fest of sorts! :)
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
- I'd really like to build on my portfolio/reel. I have 3.5 years of school behind me with nothing but pieces of paper to prove that I've "learned something." If I want to be this creative person, I need to start creating. Plain and simple.
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
So so many. I'm digging up my calendar for this one.
- In Feb, the Olympics were pretty huge here. Great excuse not to do anything else but watch TV
- April 27-28 - Montreal trip, with snow!
- May 10 - First day at etalk
- June 20 - MMVAs, tiring/crazy/fun night
- June 27 - G20 weekend, just crazy
- July 2 - Canada Day tradition!
- July 12 - Peter Katz & The Swell Season @ QET. Again, magical.
- July 19-20 - Met Bryan Lee O'Malley, 'my' story aired on etalk, SP6 was released
- Aug 6 - Met Edgar Wright, Michael Cera during junket taping. One of my most squeeful days
- Aug 11 - Snagged early Scott Pilgrim tickets. First watch of many.
- Aug 16 - G2!!!!
- Aug 21 - Paintballing!
- Sept 18 - Just a really really fun night
- Nov 5 - SP Screening in Toronto, waiting in the cold!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
- I finally got my G2 license
- I pitched a Bryan Lee O'Malley story for etalk and got to follow along as it was produced and aired
- Also wrote a script for another story which actually aired, after many many edits
- This is very sad but I finally finished watching all the Star Wars films
- I'm quite proud of this short stop motion animation I did in March.
You can watch this video on www.livejournal.com
9. What was your biggest failure?
- To be honest, I wouldn't consider anything a 'failure.' There are maybe some things I wish I had done better...
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
- Got sick towards the end but no biggie
11. What was the best thing you bought?
- I got an iMac right in the beginning of the year
- And various DVDs: most notably Community
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
- My G2 lol and Andrew's G2 too
- Uhh I don't know what else
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
- It's not really that extreme but the police and government during the G20 summit was pretty ridiculous
- And everyone who didn't see Scott Pilgrim as soon as it was released. How dare you?
14. Where did most of your money go?
- School.
- Braces.
- Food.
- iMac.
- Gifts.
- Clothing.
- Commuting.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
- Everything Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - do I really need to mention it any more?
- MMVA's
- Peter Katz & The Swell Season
16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2010?
- Anything off the SPvtW soundtrack

- Cee-Lo Green - F*ck You
- Tokyo Police Club - Boots of Danger (Wait Up) ... see below
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? - I'm proud to say happier
ii. thinner or fatter? - I think about the same
iii. richer or poorer? - No idea
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
- Networking and meeting new people
- Spending time with my closest friends
- Driving
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
- <3

23. How many one-night stands?
- Zip.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
- Community
- Spaced
- Criminal Minds
- Parenthood
- Modern Family

- Glee-ish
- It's called Boom in the Womb and I'm helping create it for my practicum project. More on that in January!!! (*cough* boominthewomb.com *cough* tell your friends)
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
- I don't think so ... though I guess I've seen the dark sides of some people who I never really knew much about before this year. Not really major, I suppose.
26. What was the best book you read?
- Haha didn't read many books. So Scott Pilgrim vol. 6 is up there
- I also purchased a book on film editing which was pretty interesting
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
- Coconut Records
- Peter Katz
- I'm pretty sure I'd sort of listened to She & Him before this year, but not to this magnitude
- And tons of others, just not quite as influential on my overall musical taste this year
28. What did you want and get?
- My precious iMac
- Internship at etalk - and also landed another internship for next year :)
- Many amazing opportunities at etalk
- Several items of clothing
29. What did you want and not get?
- Some materialistic things that I'm perfectly fine without
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
- So obvious: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
- How To Train Your Dragon
- Kick-Ass
- Up in the Air
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
- Inception was pretty crazy too
- Also finally saw Annie Hall
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
- Had a fun dinner with my boyfriend!
- 21!
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably satisfying?
- I don't think there's one thing. But I'm very satisfied with this year so I'm pretty sure it's a combination of many things and a general consistency throughout the year. The summer overall was fantastic.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
- Somewhat improved from last year, I suppose
- Lots of grey. And black.
34. What kept you sane?
- My family and all the people closest to me
- I think my photo a day project also kept me on track with my progression through the year
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
- Edgar Wright (is a genius)
- Matthew Gray Gubler
- Jason Schwartzman - Fun story: I didn't officially meet him but in between junket interviews I was standing around with him, Anna Kendrick, and Edgar Wright while Jason was playing the guitar. He and Edgar were singing some song so joyfully (couldn't recognize it so I wouldn't be able to remember the title) and that's when I realized, he'd probably be the best friend ever.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
- G20, I guess
37. Who did you miss?
- Dorothy
38. Who was the best new person you met?
- Excuse me while I name drop: Edgar Wright, Bryan Lee O'Malley, Michael Cera
- Name dropping continued... didn't officially meet, but spoke to: Hilary Swank, Aaron Paul, some drunk guy from Cobra Starship, a few Degrassi kids
- Some amazing people at etalk/CTV, they know who they are and I miss them so much
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
- Hard work doesn't always go unnoticed, as much as it can suck sometimes.
- Even the people you look up to are flawed.
- Be wary of possible brainwashing, even from people you've known for ages.
- There are so many great opportunities out there if you really really want them.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I fell in love with this song early in the year and the lyrics are so so lovely.

If you ever get the chance, listen to the album version, which features Glen Hansard. It's just as heart melting.
Everyone is breaking out
Covering the ground
I can only dream of
While I watch 'em all go by
From the corner of my eye
Wondering what I'm made of
And why I'm the first of the last to know
I'm coming out my way
Come see it for yourself
The books there on the shelf
That I never got to
I bought 'em for the show
So everyone would know
That I belonged here too
While I just rehearsed what I hoped to show
I'm coming out my way
(I don't really want to have to go there
All it ever does is lead me nowhere
All it ever really does is bring me down
So I'm going to leave it all behind me
It can try but it'll never find
And I won't ever be the first of the last to know)
Come now I will take this on hands tied behind my back
With nothing and no one to help but my plan of attack
And all of this self-defeat will fall along the track
And for once in my whole life I won't be looking back
I'm coming out my way
