I thought I would try my hand at this 'meta'

I have some insight I would like to offer to those out there that read or write about my fandom. It concerns one Duo Maxwell, who appears to be everyone's favourite. (I cannot say that I am surprised by that little factoid, either.) What I am surprised about, is the fact that although he seems to be the overwhelming favourite from my fandom, ( Read more... )

You mean you're not the fan favourite?

Of course not. Why would I be?

That sparkling, sunny personality of yours? I'dve thought you'd be a shoe-in.

Actually. Haine is the most popular in our.. fandomthing. And he's a total gloomy fucking asshole. So what do I know, really.

I am not exactly sure on the mechanics of what makes a particular person a favourite. It probably changes, depending upon fandom. I really don't care about something so shallow, however. I was more concerned with the gross misrepresentation I had found.

How are you represented? Or misrepresented, maybe?

In the so-called 'canon' or in fanfiction?

Well, I do not know exactly where to start. The fanfiction seems to take a few characteristics of my personality, and exaggerate them, so that it would seem that I have no personality outside of those few characteristics. Like my sense of justice, for example. The fanfiction writers like to obsess about that one. When they do not even seem to understand what justice truly is. That, and there is this ridiculous nosebleed stereotype. Quite obnoxious, really.

What the fuck is a nosebleed stereotype.

Basically, it is a sort of Japanese euphemism that when males especially get sexually aroused in generally what is considered to be an embarrassing situation, they will end up with a nosebleed. It is really quite ridiculous. And the thought that I would be of such weak constitution is preposterous.

All the blood goes down, not up.

I did not create the standard. I am simply a victim of it.
