yes I will judge you

I've noticed (thanx facebook!!!) that virtually every girl I knew growing up is now A) in a sorority; B) hardcore conservative Christian; or C) both. Of course it pretty much goes without saying that the ones who are in a sorority are already conservative Christians but not necessarily the other way around.

Lili: Best friend from grades 1-2 until I moved to NC...when I knew her she was quite a wild child and TA-DAAA we are now magically friends again via the internet (minus any sort of interaction of course) and she's apparently been hardcore into the whole "Jesus" thing for years. I think she's doing missionary work in Tanzania right now. (This is true for several of my old Falls Church friends--none of whose families I saw as being religious in any way at the time...it makes me shudder to imagine what my fate might have been had I grown up in VA my whole life.)

Hannah and Brittany: Two girls (not of the same blood) who lived on my street from my ages of 9-14. Consequently we played together a lot. Hannah's family was always Bible-centric so that was no surprise...but BRITTANY?! South Park night was family night at her house! (Just to give you an idea of her living environment.) At the tender age of 11 years old she tried to commit suicide and returned from the hospital 6 months later about 50 pounds heavier but otherwise she seemed just the same. She came out of the womb a nutcase (my parents hated her...my mother blamed Brittany when she found I'd stumbled across a few porn sites when I was 12.) So...now...she's...ALSO studying to be a missionary?! She considers herself to be "In A Relationship" ...with God. "And he is a jealous God." ...???? Jesus fucking Christ.

Lauren: best friend from ages 9 to about 13 on and off. She quit talking to me right around the time we both dropped out of girl scouts and she moved into a big-ass house and tried out for the cheerleading squad. (I just wasn't cool enough anymore.) Out of the blue last week I get a friend request from Lauren...in a sorority...conservative...blahblahblahblah who didn't see THAT one coming.

Annnnnd basically every single girl I knew in high school is a "Phi Delta Cappa Omega Nu Zed Gamma Gamma Barf Beta." There are too many of them with too little importance for me to name. But there are a lot of them. With a few exceptions of course. Very few exceptions.

...ew. Thank heavens I don't go to real college. They'd be everywhere.
