Fascinating. Is memory loss common around these parts or is retrograde amnesia something you in particular suffered even before coming here?

My memory is better than any other's. It was a result of this place or something that had happened.

Interesting. Can you recall if there was a particular event that preceded this or perhaps followed it? Have you observed any other unusual phenomena related to your own physiology in this place?

Of course. Everyone who arrives here has their powers restricted. Anyone who has a power can usually tell immediately.

Definitely an area of effect then. Perhaps items of power placed in a net around the border, like a large prison or holding cell. But to what purpose? Curiouser and curiouser.

Powers, you say. You appear human, am I wrong? A magician of some kind then?

The gods just try to control misbehavior here. Without powers there is less temptation for many to kill, I would assume.

Whether or not it is truth...it is hard to say. Perhaps it is just something for their play, we don't really know.

...I did. I have many abilities, not all of which are accessible here.

Really, what 'abilities' would those be? Furthermore, what kind are 'allowed' here?

Just. Many. I absorb others powers, as it is. But it isn't a matter of what kind, it is just a matter of many. Even the ones I have access to...are restricted, except for the one that many may consider a punishment.

Punishment? Anything you'd like to elaborate on would be fantastic. I am a man of science who has lived a very long time, you see, so the chance to find something 'new' is terribly exciting. If only I had my lab equipment to take proper blood and tissue samples.

Scientist? One of my dear friends at home was a scientist. But I could identify people by heartbeats should I wish.

Pathologist in particular, though I mostly do general practice. I'm sure having known one of us so well you can understand how we people of science get about new information.

Enhanced hearing, then? Fascinating, fascinating. Were you born with this ability - to absorb 'powers' or was it something that happened later? For that matter, how do you absorb them? Are there other people with powers where you're from or is it some kind of re-arranging the universe to fit what you need or want at the moment?

Oh, I am very aware.

Oh now, I don't share secrets of the trade. But I do simply absorb them....in a particular way. ...It is something I learned of not long ago. ...A year, perhaps.
