(no subject)
We're 40 percent off the average for the first week of July. My web business will pick up some of that slack, but still it's scarey to think the gallery is off that much. There's much to be positive about though, we put together a new raku kiln that is highly effecient and fires in just 1 1/2 hours.......way cool to get so hot, so quick.
As a result of that I'm re-supporting the kiln shed to make sure the wind over the next 10 years won't take it like a kite.
I've done a pit firing and the three pieces I had there......2 towers of inspiration and one that I'm calling....object pierced by a book....came out so good....I'm so excited about them....I'm putting two of them aside for the show in August.....the other I'll put out in the gallery.
The first 'tower of inspiration' I sold I think I got 200 for it........these......since business is so bad....are going to be 400......people are going to pay for good pieces from now on.......
So I have to bind a book for the object pierced by it....and I've asked Sue to dye me three colors of linen thread.....to match the colors in the pit fired piece. These threads are going to bind the signatures and come out of the hard spine when the book is made.......it'll look cool.....I need to really think about the paper for the book too.......whether I'll decorate my own or use a Japanese that I already have.
I have more to pit fire....and more to make....my creativity got a real boost with the play......I'm writing poetry.....thinking about books.....going to stay away from people....except for family......and spend more time in the woods and on my bike.
Helped Corrine get a new bike.....we went riding today.....we're going hiking Monday......That's one of the pluses I guess to slow gallery business........you might as well take a hike.......and it's nice to have Corrine home this summer....she works in the evening and has her days off.....for the past three summers she's been up at UB for six weeks.......
Lots of busy days coming up it looks like.....lots of web work coming in......I've got six projects in different stages right now .... and two really nice ones on the fringe........a couple of possible graphic design jobs out there too.......I'm hoping for......
I think about the play from time to time. I lay back and picture what it must have looked like from a seat in the house. I picture myself playing the part of Teach and going over the lines......I generally find it very humorous to do......very relaxing.......I don't miss doing it.......but I do miss doing it.....
