So, I'm a little excited about getting to be the token liberal on the newspaper staff. Well, perhaps I shouldn't say token liberal, there are others in the office, but I'm the only one who gets to write about it. ^_^ The other A section girl (A section is almost solely writing, and generally the hardcore news writing, which I will be in mostly, though she doesn't like the fluffy stuff so I get to do that too. YAY! I love fluff. It gives people hope.) is a die hard Republican (she's nice, so I'll try not to hold it against her ^^) and being as I'm...well, absolutely NOT, we're going to start doing a point and counterpoint debate segment during election season. I'm all excited! Someone is actually going to pay me to be political! ^_^
The pay, by the way, sucks donkey balls.
BUT, who cares? Not me. It's about $6,000 less a year than I'd thought it would be, but I don't mind. I can still get by with my Patti's job, too (maybe even without), and I'll get a raise in 90 days and then regularly thereafter. Plus, Areia says that when they do my annual review, if they really like me, I'll get a hell of a salary bump, so that'll be nice. Besides, I have good benefits, and they're damn near worth their weight in gold, anymore.
I need story ideas, though, guys. Seriously. I've got a few rolling around upstairs, plus I'll have a shitload of election coverage stuff before long, and plenty of things that I already have to do (like city council meetings and crap like that), but I need ideas. Any suggestions? I'd like to do a piece on the evils of Wal-Mart (because we all know I think they're total bastards, and they deserve some bad publicity), but I'll probably need to be there a while before I break that one in. Don't wanna stir the water too much yet and lose my job. But yeah, what would you guys like to read about as far as special interest pieces go if it were your local newspaper?
I also need to shop. Very, very badly. UGH. I hate shopping. Hate it with the fire of a thousand suns. However, my desk needs STUFF, and I could use some new clothes.
Hope everyone is doing well. Peace, all.
