I decided not to go abroad.
In the end, the money decided it for me, which should tell you how ambivalent I was about it in general. I don't have the $500 to hand over to the Study Abroad office right now, I don't make a ton at my school job, and I'm not exactly making the big bucks this summer (although I'm going have a crazycool job here: www.heaf.org). I'd be going abroad for ten weeks, unable to get a job while there, and basically bankrupting myself, given the exchange rate. Also, the classes aren't that great.
My mom is wise, and said this about it: "you know, sara, there's absolutely nothing stopping you from going to graduate school and all that time planning and saving for a long european event when you finish graduate school, by then the exchange rate ought to be much better, God willing. it's how i've planned vacations for years. kept my eye on the ball and my money continually put in the bank."
So that's that. I'll be here next fall, and I am 100% comfortable with my decision. I have the rest of my life to do exciting things. Life doesn't stop after 21.
