My computer just crashed, losing what I was doing in photoshop as well as some writing I'd forgotten to save.
Seriously, I need to reinstall Mac OS X at some point, as this freezing/mouse-losing/keyboard-not-recognizing business is getting old. Unfortunately, as most of my applications are in some way non-legally procured, I'm looking at the rather tedious process of reinstalling everything I need and just banging my head on the desk instead of actually attempting it.
Internet's been seriously slow for the past couple of days as well, but I've still managed to watch Kuroshitsuji in the background. I'm still a bit wtf (currently on episode 8) and I keep watching just because I swear there has to be a plot.
My Elika costume has been pretty much resigned to living on my dressform because - honestly - the thing just doesn't look good on me. The shape, much to my chagrin, is designed for someone who's just kinda...flat. Elika with giant titties just looks wrong. Not to mention I'm much heavier than Elika, mostly because she's some sort of freakish
Natalie Portman clone. Anyway, I'll finish the beading and painting because I love detailing, but if I felt too uncomfortable to wear it for PAX and Tekko, I'm probably never going to wear it anyway.
Okay, quick, before I forget, here's a list of software that I need to acquire:
- CS4
- Painter XI
- MS Office 2008
- iWork 09
- iLife something
Kay, gonna start on that now as I'm backing up all of my ARTS and WRITINGS.
Right, cosplay. It turns out to be much more difficult than when I was 15. To whit: I am curvy. Most of the characters I like and/or feel comfortable dressing up as are not. To further illustrate my point, I have made you a HANDY CHART:
I would give you a picture of me in the Elika costume to prove a point, but I don't feel like having my boobs on the internet just yet and I don't have any pictures.
So now is my rambling about characters I'm considering for my next project. I'm taking the Elika costume as proof that I tend to know what I'm doing with a sewing machine, I just need to remember I'm making costumes for me and not my dressform.
List of Characters:
-
AC Tifa: I don't hate AC Tifa! Also, her outfit has chucks (<3) and is like completely non-revealing. Good times.
-
Reith from Magna Carta: This is on the top of my list right now as 1) I've always wanted to do an HTK costume, 2) I think I actually have the skills to make it and 3) my boobs are actually that big. Just sayin'. Also, I'd get to wear tights, which is always a plus.
-
Cassandra from SC4: Also high on my list, as walking around a convention and having people call me my actual name has always appealed to me. Probably the most difficult on this list to pull off as I look terrible as a blonde and it would take a lot of work for me to be comfortable with my thighs showing.
-
Caterina Sforza from AC2: I'd have a lot of fun making this, but no one would recognize the costume without an accompanying Ezio.
-
Sheena from Tales of Symphonia: Love her design, hate the character. Also, I am entirely uncomfortable with my own cleavage.
- Harley Quinn or other Spandex Hero: Will a little gym time and a pair of spanx, I think I could do it.
- Kallen Kozuki from Code Geass: She's my favorite CG character, but those shorts do NOT look good on girls with hips.
Done rambling for now. Hopefully I'll find something I'm excited about and start planning. I need something to do this summer while I avoid the world.
