(no subject)
A girl came up to me today with a birthday card she recieved from her friend who is studying abroad in America. On the front it says "You are HOW old!?" and on the inside it says, "Now that's a load of number 2 if ever I've heard one. Happy Birthday" She points at that and says, "meaning... what?"
"Well you see... number two is... number two is..." Finally I just give up and draw a picture... she looks confused. "Ok - So it means "yea right." looks confused. "Ok So let's try Japanese. (in japanese) how old are you? (18) you're a liar!" looks confused.
FINALLY I get the point across and then she says, "Why is that on a birthday card!!!?" Ugh. "Don't worry - it's a good thing... you're friend likes you." looks confused. "American joke." gets it. nice one.
