Now, I have a question - do we know that this race was actually called the Nakai, or are we just calling it that because we all love CWR so much? If it's a stupid question, I'm sorry, I might have missed something~

My naming of the species in the journal tag is based plainly upon the Stargate Wikia article which I was reading shortly before launching into this drabble. http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Nakai
Glad you like the piece :)

One more question - didn't Rush break his glasses before being left on that planet?.. I think I remember him holding them by one arm in one of the first episodes

A half-grown what? Nakai? or something else they're familiar with or....I'm confused because I don't remember the Nakai being terribly large themselves....taller than a human but reallly skinny.

I'm not sure whether it was possible for the Nakai to get this quick any understandable words from their interesting find? Given that they communicate about a week later with Destiny with just one word, I'd guess, the informations they got in the beginning were pictures only, and after a few (very hard) days (for Rush with a lot of headache) they could add to theirunderstanding some words, but not more.
That's one of the more week points to a lot of scifi stories with Aliens. Thinking it through, the chance of any kind of communication is close to zero, from our point of view. But then, what kind of interaction is possible under such circumstances, other than to terminate them before they may be able to act first.
The glasses: When Rush came through the Gate on Destiny, one of the frame sides broke, and in episode 9 (Life) Rush repaired the glasses by adding a makeshift side on the glasses, ( ... )

I've considered taking this drabble down a couple of times because there's just a few too many things "off" about it - but it made me happy to write, so I figured I'd keep it. But I'm glad you like the approach!
