I'm not allowed to be sick.

I never complain that I'm sick or feel sick.

BUT

This morning I woke up and had to run to the bathroom, and the entire day I've been running to the bathroom. I asked the person I went out with last night if they were feeling okay, just incase it was a food poisoning kind of thing. They said they were fine, but then maybe an hour later they said they were coming down with something. That their stomach hurt and "almost had diarrhea". I said "okay", even they were just top notch less than an hour ago...

So I went on with my day and went to work

Then my fellow employee asked how I was feeling because I called in sick and went to work anyway. She then tells me that she had that yesterday, and a headache and came into work ANYWAY even though she had a headache.

Honestly, I don't know if people claim they're sick too in order to find something in common with someone, or to one up you, or ?

I don't understand that. Speaking of, when I told some lady my dad died two months before graduation for me. She responded, and I quote her exactly, "That's nothing, my grandkids dad died the same week they were graduating"

Why do we use our sob stories as weapons, defense mechanisms, badges of honor, etc.?

Not saying I'm entirely perfect, but I feel like I watch what I say much more than what even occurs to most.
