Ah, a good start to the day. It may be raining in Paris, the transport strike may mean that I have absolutely no way of getting to the station for my train home - but the Red Sox won to stay alive last night, and the Yankees are managerless. Ding, dong, the wicked Joe Torre is dead.

How did you not know that? Am an absolute, dedicated, dyed-in-the-wool Sox fan. My 'aunt' in the States used to take me to Fenway when I was little, is still just about my favorite place on the Earth.

Oh, they are such lovely pictures honey! They are really special. And of course I hugely approve of the choice of shirt. I met him once. He called me "kid". Ah, good times. And he is pitching tonight isn't he. Fingers crossed.

I have to say, there is something about Josh Beckett this year - y'know how occasionally people just go into a zone and it seems like they just. will. not. lose.
