Back in the Kitchen again....

Feb 02, 2012 16:45

Finally, after some 9 months of living in the land of dead comps. Not fun, I tell you.

But I'm back now and rarin' to go. I'm so sorry to have left with no notice or updates, but
getting online was a few-and-far-between happening. Now that I've a shiny new computer, I hope
to once again post here regularly.

Updates on things in my kitchen/culinary life:

I've purged my cookbook collection (over 75) and now the remainder fit on one 3 tier bookshelf.
No worries though. I was careful to copy out the recipes I wanted (only a handful in many of them) and then donated them to our local library and womens shelter thrift shop.

The recipes then went into a 3 ring binder I've been working on for years. That one binder now spreads into 3 separate ones for Main Dish, Lunch Ideas, and Desserts. I'll add a breakfast binder at some future date, I'm sure. At last count, the 3 binders b/t them had around 700 recipes! I could write a cookbook, lol.

I refuse to part with my Pilot Club set, as those come from Dh's step-grandmother and date to the 60's. Not so old, true, but they're full of authors notes about the recipes and tips of the time. I think I'll focus more on old cookbooks in future collectings.

Also, we're starting a garden this year!! Being me, it will have a different spin, namely, being a Square Foot Garden. You can find more info on this at www.squarefootgardening.com (think that's right). Mel Bartholomew is a genius! Cannot wait to get started.

Anyway, all this means that there's plenty of recipes to post here in Easy Eats, so def stay tuned!
