This is Sims 2 - I tried Sims 3 because several suggested that I continue this story via TS3, but I couldn't find enough tools to help tell the story that are available for TS2 like the Freezing Clock, etc. There's also just something charming about TS2 that makes me loyal to this game versus the newer one.
And ugh, adding proper lighting to the final product of an image is one of the biggest frustrations as Sims 2 is so dark on its own. I always add a Brightness layer that I adjust depending on just how much brighter the picture needs to be. Typically though, Sims 2 just photographs very dark and bland no matter how promising the pictures look in-game.
It used to take me a while to edit pictures (30 minutes+) a long time ago but I've cut it down to 10 minutes per picture after setting up a general routine of how I treat every image. Every image is dealt with individually and consistency becomes the biggest struggle when doing so, but it isn't so bad nowadays. :) Basically, have some music or a good musical/show running in the background and the whole process isn't so bad. :P
And LOL I was a bit iffy about adding that picture in the first place but honestly, Essie's perspective is just so juvenile at times and it was too good not to implement. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I just read the most recent chapter to your story and I think your setting and pictures are beautiful above and beyond the story being told! I didn't see any lighting issues at all and the scenery looks realistic, especially the scenery used for the first few images. And as always, yay for another Sims 2 picfic-er! :)
