Recently an organization calling itself White Voices of America (WVA) has targeted the Tri-Cities area to “unite fellow white kindred” at an upcoming “family picnic and political discussion” at a local public park. According to advertisements posted by WVA in Tri-Cities parks and public areas, “you must be of pre-dominant white ancestry to join or attend any gatherings of WVA.” The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA), a broad-based grassroots organization founded in 1996, urges all members of the Tri-Cities community to reject a whites-only mind-set and to commit to fostering a community that includes and respects all its members. Whites-only values are not Tri-Cities values.
To address this important community issue, LEDA invites you to a public forum at the Lakeshore Middle School auditorium on Thursday, June 2nd, 7 to 9 p.m.
