who thought college could be like a vacation?

Sep 03, 2004 18:47

I'm here, all moved in and settled down. Thus far, college has been like Orientation again, minus all the mandatory sessions. It almost feels like a vacation, probably just because classes haven't started yet, and won't until Tuesday. What's even better for me is that while everyone is at class on Tuesday, I don't have to start until Wednesday, ( Read more... )

Thanks, Alli. I wish I could only say the same after class begins. Eh, I'm not looking forward to all the work, but they'll give me something productive to do and I'll feel like I'm making good use of my life again.

Denny, glad to see that you're fitting in fine (booze and asian fraternities would help)at the University that is so powerful and mighty that its own mascot is extinct due to French fur traders. Damn French!!! Maybe that's why we secretly hate them so much ( ... )

Was the new clerk that you spoke of short, portly, with brown hair in a bad bowl cut?

What a terribly accurate and humorous description. I can already visualize her. Have fun working with her and Abby Peterson. And what about job security, Nick? You work at a library. It's not like after shelving 500 books, you'll get tenure. I could hardly call it a "real" job.

And thanks for your advice about the bike. Not. Feel free to drop me an email anytime, too.

I'm glad to hear that you've been enjoying your first few days on campus. Have you tried shopping for textbooks online? If you're having trouble finding them and are appalled at the prices, try eBay, amazon.com Textbooks or Barnes & Noble Textbooks. There's a shipping delay, but all three sites offer both new and used textbooks.

And I agree (duh) that a bike would be very nice (well, depending on how much you have in your backpack or messenger bag), except for that damn thing called "winter." Maybe ask a random biker where he stores his bike in the winter? Or maybe you could get one of your G.H. friends to visit you in December and take your bike back with him... I'm sure you could find plenty of people looking for an excuse to leave this town... ahem...

Sorry, but I've gotta give you a D+. No puns, no rhyming... just a relatively weak rhetorical question.

I completely agree with the title evaluation, but I just wasn't in the mood to sit and think up something clever and witty.

And thanks for your advice regarding the bike situation. I asked the front desk today, and there's no place to store it, so it looks like if I bring one, I'll need to bring it home before winter hits. My longest trek this semester is from Couzens to Lorch Hall, which is from the north side of campus all the way to the south, so a bike could very well come in handy. We'll have to see.

If you could come home to GET a bike, it seems like you certainly could come home to bring it BACK. If not, I'm sure I will be heading out there before the snow flies (while it is still safe to make that drive in my car) and I would be more than willing to bring it back to Grand Haven. I hope your first days of classes go smoothly for you. Write to tell us all how it went.

we should figure out a time when we are going to go out there and visit them. hopefully after i get housing so i wouldn't have to explain to my parents what i was doing. just less hassle.
