So, I tried to write this once already and totally erased it, much to my utter dismay and extreme pique. Let's try again...
Day one: Idaho to Wyoming. Drove from Stanley, up through Wyoming and Grand Tetons National Park. Wasn't as impressed with Grand Tetons the way I was with Yellowstone and Northern Wyoming. Though, passing through the painted Hills of Southern Wyoming were pretty incredible. Blues, purples, pinks, oranges, and pale reds across these brilliant red and white hills....Beautiful. Made it to my shitty hotel just after the sun set and slept like the dead until the next morning.
Day two & three: Wyoming to Colorado. Made my way across the rest of Wyoming in extreme rain and fog and into Colorado. By the time I hit Denver the weather cleared and I got my first look of Colorado. Reminded me a lot of Idaho in the shape of the hills and greenery....though this area was MUCH greener than Idaho. Made it to Leah's house by 1pm, went to her high school alumni day with her then hung out at her place. Took her out to dinner, rented a couple movies and bought a bottle of rum and made a night of it. Watched Adam and Steve (incredibly good gay movie) and Hoodwinked (cute, but not stellar). Next day, I made it to the Vail Village farmer's market while Leah was at work, bought a couple books, then went back to her place and took a four hour nap...Then we cooked dinner with her little brother and all got shitty drunk...Woke up in a rather good mood and ended up forgetting my glasses on her kitchen table when I left.
Day four: Colorado to Missouri. I now know why Dorothy went over the rainbow in the first place....KANSAS SUCKS. Yeah, enough said. Nothing interesting to take pictures of, flat and boring landscape. Took all day, and made it at sunset to an even shittier hotel.
Day five: Missouri to Ohio. Again, whole day driving, not much to look at...though Missouri was better than both Kansas and Ohio. Arrived at 7pm, sat in the parking lot of a hotel to pick up wireless internet to email a letter of recommendation because my hotel didn't have any internet....then had a lonely dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. Made it over to Walmart and got another book, and spent the rest of the evening reading.
Day six: Ohio to Maryland. Crossed a ton of state lines this day. Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, WV, Maryland, DC, Maryland. Got some beautiful pictures of the rolling hills of West Virginia and Maryland....though I got lost on the way to my friend Michelle's...finally got turned around and made it to her place. Spent the evening eating pizza, playing with her son, and catching up while we watched movies. Slept in wicked late...
Day seven: Home Stretch. Left Michelle's at noon....which was my mistake. Took two hours to get out of Maryland. Some how managed to make it out of NYC before 5pm but got stuck in killer traffic in Connecticut. Made it to Massachusetts by 8:00, and to my parents place by 10:30. In my exhausted state, I managed to forget to check my gas gauge until Portsmouth NH, and realized I was riding empty, and nearly got lost trying to find a gas station....hillarious for those of you who know I spent about every minute of my 16 - 19 years in that city. Finally got home to find my kitten is now gi-normous, and tried to scratch me in under ten minutes of me being home. Parents kept me up until about 1am....
Friday: Rest day. Slept all damn morning, went grocery shopping with my parents then went to buy an outfit for the random cousin's wedding. I looked f'ing hot.
Today: Went to the wedding....can't remember any one's name of who I met, the ceremony was short but still nausiating....and dinner was mediocre, though I was seated ironically with the only lesbian couple in the room. I hate going to weddings when I'm not being paid to be there (taking the pictures). Got home relatively late, and my feet hurt so badly I wasn't walking right, thanks to my ankle and gawd awful shoes.
Tomorrow: Going back to my apartment in Henniker.
This week: Probably going to NYC to pick up Zach Wednesday or Thursday....Back to work at the mall on Friday evening, but I'm sure I'm working at the other store before then. Buying books, picking up mail from my NEC box, unpacking, and canvasing the dorms with SOUP fliers, and holding a e-board meeting....
Noteworthy: Heard from someone in a slightly impersonal email, totally unexpected message. I wonder what it means, if anything.
