Kino can be found...well, almost anywhere in Gensokyo. As a traveler, you'll find her poking her nose into things, along with her talking motorcycle. She has little regard for whether or not a place is considered safe.
You might find her watching the mist over the lake during a cold dawn, cold fingers of cold fog. Or paying a call to Patchouli with a rare book found in her travels, as repayment for the shelter she was given on her first night. Or watching the small, wordless lives of the animals in the Forest of Magic. Or ascending the mountain roads on Hermes, dodging fallen boulders and roaring through the curves with the agility of a minnow in water. Or taking in the bustle of the market in the human village, watching modern day descendants of the Greek tradition hold forth to the crowd. Or pounding sticky blobs of mochi at Eientei to help the rabbits in their perpetual preparations for their monthly festival.
In short anywhere in the land. She is constantly on the move, after all. Never more than three days in one place. However if you looked, after a few minutes you would see her remove a notepad from her coat and write with a branch-pencil:
I understand that certain youkai prey on humans. I am also aware that the human shrine maiden includes 'exterminating' youkai among her duties. It may be that the very existence of these duties is evidence of how dangerous youkai are. Or it may be that they are feared and hated out of proportion to the actual amount of harm they do as a group.
In addition among humans, different youkai appear to be considered different kinds of threats. Fairies and Kedama are considered a nuisance. Oni are thought of as dangerous idiots brawlers. Night sparrows and Devils, I am told, should be avoided at all costs.
Is it possible that youkai think the same of humans? Certainly as a species we are far from incapable of harm. As a traveler, I have seen humans accomplish many beautiful things, but also
