pottermore & other things

My username is WolfWing20302, so if you're on Pottermore, add me! I was sorted into Ravenclaw (yes), and I need more people to duel against. Except that I'm completely pants at casting spells (think Neville Longbottom; I may suck now, but I'll be coming for you soon enough). Leave a comment with your username so I know who's who.

Also! Much like armourlet, I've decided to get an OFFICIAL BLAWG, mainly so I can link my lit mag submissions to it without the fear of fandom showing up. I've only got, like, two posts on there, but I'll be posting more soon. I'm hoping that it'll be more of a "real life and writing around it" sort of blog. I LIED AND DELETED IT BLOGGING SUCKS

AND GUESS WHAT. I got both Wreck this Journal and This is Not a Book by Keri Smith yesterday! I also got How to Be an Explorer of the World, but my mom thought it was cool, so I let her have it. That one is more collecting things and making observations than it is writing, so I wasn't too sad to see it go. If anyone has a Wreck this Journal, you should definitely share some pictures of it. I'm going to be keeping track of it's destruction with the tag what: wreck this journal, with pictures/descriptions every week. I'm hoping that this will get me more into the swing of writing and/or inspire me to write more.

And, finally: I've discovered the plot for Pass it On! As of now, it's just mainly been pieces of Finchley and Alex interacting and character development. But, thanks to Frozen Planet on the Discovery Channel and the movie The Last Song (don't judge me, I got a year of STARS and ENCORE to watch), I've figured out where I want to go with it.

[spoilers?]A dead gray whale washes up on the beach where Finchley and Alex usually bum around. The whale is caught up in fishing netting, and caught with it is the body of an elderly fisherman that Finchley has talked with on the warf. All signs point to that the man was setting down drift nets (illegal), and caught the whale (even more illegal). Finchley, however, doubts that the man did it (he was of the decent sort). So begins an ongoing investigation as to who set down the nets, how the fisherman died, who killed him, and how they're going to catch whoever did it. And, because armourlet agrees with me, and I personally think it's a great idea, I'm smashing together Pass it On and Airports and Hipsters into one giant story. It'll alternate between Finchley & Alex and Callum & Embry, and it'll run all parallel and stuff. Embry and Callum will end up coming to visit Callum's dad and they end up getting caught up in the SUDDEN PLOTLINE, too.

It's going to require quite a bit of research, so if anyone knows anything about Gray Whales or Humpback Whales, please don't be afraid to share your wisdom The story takes place in a little town about an hour outside of San Francisco called Half Moon Bay. I visited there over winter break earlier this year, and it was just. Perfect. There's a lighthouse at Pigeon Point, a place for big-wave surfing (Mavericks), Pillar Point Harbor, and it's all grey water and whales and sea lions. Whales. I love whales.
