The Adventures Of Evil & Adorable: Part One

Figured it was easiest to put a joint entry here for everyone to see if they wanted! HIIII.

Okay, there are a LOT of pictures in this entry. So click the cut and, unless you have super-speedy broadband, go make yourself a cuppa while they load. :D

And now for...like..words. And stuff.

After a delayed flight, Evil and Adorable finally met at 00.50am at Heathrow Terminal 1. They then got off at the wrong bus stop and walked for a mile to the hotel. (Okay, quarter of a mile, but it felt longer!). Hotel: adequate. Room-key: useless. Food: expensive, actually.

Wednesday was a visit to London Zoo where we saw many animals, but no penguins. :( Or elephants. :( But! We did see (deep breath) gorillas, meerkats, giraffes, otters, llamas that had given up, tigers, lions, a very smug snow leopard, insects, spiders (by accident, not on purpose) and. Uh. Lots more. Since we were in Camden Town anyway, we stopped off at the Dublin Castle for a drink and laughed at the Spread Eagle pub opposite. The Dublin Castle played good music while we were there. We left as ACDC ended.

Then we attempted to find the Hard Rock Cafe. This is not as easy as it sounds unless you actually know where it is. We walked through a lovely park and found ourselves outside Buckingham Palace. We asked a lovely policeman the way and he sent us on what turned into a two hour trek after which we ended up at Piccadilly Circus/Leicester Square. That was the wrong way, by the way. So we ate at TGI Friday's and had an awesome waiter and an even better dessert. Then we thought, well, hell. We're in Leicester Square. So we went to see Ice Age 3 in 3D. GO SEE IT. It's made of win. Evil and Adorable recommend it with four thumbs up.

Then we went back to the hotel and got to bed around 11.45pm.

Next morning we set off a little late and went to the British Museum, had a mosey around (or schlepped?) and a bite to eat, then went on over to Covent Garden and watched an Australian man tease a small child. Kelly got smothered with various potions and lotions in Lush and we saw the gayest boy that ever gayed. Then what did we do? Why yes. We went to find the Hard Rock Cafe again. Damned if we were going to be beaten!!

WE FOUND IT. Eventually. We went into the store first and went down in to the Vault with one other guy and Jimmy, the manager. Jimmy was awesome. Eventually we'll upload the video of the song he sang to us, about how difficult the Hard Rock Cafe is to find. He sang November Rain at us too and took our picture on the couch down there. Awww, Jimmy. ♥ After grabbing a few things we headed across the road to the restaurant where we surprisingly DIDN'T have to wait for a table.

Our waiters? They were gorgeous. Fergus was the main one and he was very attentive and very lovely and had a good sense of humour, which he needed because we took ages to make up our minds. But we stayed there for two hours and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it, even if you don't want to feel touristy. There are plenty of things to look at. (Not JUST the waiters...)

Then it was time to get to the Dominion to see WE WILL ROCK YOU.

We left it thoroughly rocked. I can't go into more detail than that, just to say - you need to see it for yourself if you're a Queen fan or just a fan of good rock musical with plenty of humour. Fantastic.

Late getting back to the hotel, but that was fine. It was a very late start the next morning. Friday was mostly travelling back to Ryhall.

Saturday we did Rutland Water, Burghley House (the local Stately Home), and then A Midsummer Night's Dream at Tolethorpe Hall. There were even fireworks on stage at the end, so Kelly still got the 4th July tradition seen to.

Sunday was RAF Waddington Airshow. Sadly, the Vulcan did not fly, but we saw the Red Arrows before we left. And we got home to discover that we were all absolutely, well-and-truly sunburnt. OW. Kerry bought us both a red arrows teeshirt. They're bright red. We've made a habit of buying the same exact teeshirts. We now have three matching ones. Hehe.

Today we went to Belvoir Castle and spent several hours there. We had a picnic on a table that was so sloped we needed climbing gear to sit down. And the apples nearly rolled off. But it's a beautiful surrounding and well worth it. Kelly took sneaky pics inside the Castle (you're not meant to) to show how too much pink isn't always a good thing. We got home about 2.30pm and have spent the afternoon resizing our pics and relaxing. There are WAY more pics than we've shared here, but we didn't want to kill anyone's internet.

That's it for now. Tomorrow: the seaside. Wednesday: films, mostly. After that...well, we'll be back to tell you more then!!
