As for college essays making a difference, Virginia has probably been deceived by The System because she clearly thinks they do. At University of Chicago, anyway, but they're craaazy about the essay there. ^^ And applying to more schools - from the impression I get, you seem to love Longwood, and if you know that's where you want to me, there is no reason to waste your time/application fees on any other school.
