i've been reading again... and more books by ursula k le guin... =smile=
last week i read the last two books of earthsea - 'tehanu' and 'the other wind' - i liked them both =smile=
i think i'd heard mixed things from some of yous here, and so i came to reading them prepared to be disappointed, but with an open mind. and, like said, i liked them both.
what i liked about 'tehanu' particularly was what appeared to be a gentle but definite creating of an awareness of some gendered relations, introducing a feminist perspective, for readers that might not already have come to this/been in a position to read the story on that level.
in 'the other wind', i really enjoyed the dragons =grin= and the journey towards balance. i liked how things came together.
i enjoyed both these stories/books as much as i enjoyed the earlier 3 novels in the series, i think.
and i'm currently reading 'the dispossessed', and very much enjoying it so far (3 chapters in...?) =smile= and it is so reminding me of a conversation
zevinboots started last night =grin= i shall read with even more interest (than i already had) because of that.
and it becomes more apparent to me why
shevek is thus named =smile=
