that's the title of the painting that lends its image to this user icon... i didn't come here to write about that, but suddenly i find that my mind turns for a moment from a post about weather forecasts and practicalities...and towards the midsummer sunrise. i'm not going to wait up for it (tho momentarily tempted).. nor do i imagine i'll wake before/in time for it... but i'm aware of it... and the point we reach in the year. it's a beautiful moment, so strong, so powerful, so clear... but at the same time a little 'bitter sweet' in my mind, cos the days will shorten again after tomorow. i'm enjoying this moment to just be with/in the moment... to take/find some time to be aware of where and when we are. i think it's one of the clearest moments i've experienced since being back in london/from my travels/'home'. i'm also finding myself really connected (by the image) to a midsummer eve some years ago, camped in the van below stanton lee moor, in derbyshire, thinking to the sunrise... to the sun rise over nine ladies stone circle. i'd spent the day walking, being, napping on the moor and around/amongst the stones... and then before sunrise i made my way back up to them again to catch first light. this picture/image formed in my head and my notebook in the time between... in the dark of the night, and within the 'walls' of the van. it found its way onto board sometime later that year, i think.
