pond news
yesturday i had a good look in the pond here again.
the frogspawn is still frogspawn... the little black dots don't seem to have gotten any bigger/become at all tadpole-ish in shape... i'm wondering if they might stay like that.
there was movement near the frogspawn... and after some close examination, i confirmed that it was a caddis fly larva (rather than a stem just moving about). looking more generally around the pond, i noticed a few of them. i've not noticed caddis fly larvae in the pond before., it's quite exciting! (it is possible i just haven't looked at the right moment to see one/them).
and i saw two newts *grin* i was surprised cos i didn't expect to. they were kinda hiding, but every now and then jostling about so that one/the other became exposed. they were under a stone that's round the edge of the pond overhanging a shallow-water ledge i built into the pond.
