Douglas Hill - RIP

Jun 28, 2007 13:09

picking up the enfield advertiser (free) newspaper yesturday evening, the front cover runs a story proclaiming the death of Douglas Hill. it shows a pciture of him, and the number 121 bus that ran over him. i hadn't known he'd been living in wood green!

he/his fiction was such an influence on my developing self. i used to walk/cycle the two miles to the wooden hut that was great baddow library, to find his books in the 'young adult' (as i then was) section. i think 'the last legionary series' is probably one i remember most, tho the cover image for 'the huntsman' is the one that springs to mind when i think to him/his books.

an obituary in 'the independent' mentions he was still writing.

books, death
