while i was getting ready to get out to work[0] this morning i noticed movement and light-coloured, not staying-with-me-currently-cat[2] form at the back of the garden...
...it was the poorly fox
who looked rather more worse for wear than last i saw it - it has a skinny little tail now, hardly any brush to it at all *unsmile* and the rest of its coat looks short and patchy and scratchy. not very well at all, no *shakes head, unsmiling*
we looked at each other through the window a bit, and i talked to it a bit too.
it looked like it might settle, but i knew going out to proffer the cats breakfast before i went out for the day would disturb it... and as it was, me moving around in the house did. i thought this was a shame cos it could possibly do with somewhere safe/quiet to rest a while, and enjoy the sunshine. but i also thought it was good cos it shouldn't get too friendly with human-formed-beings cos not all human-formed-beings are friendly.
i haven't been putting out the honey (&remedy) sandwiches recently, cos i thought i'd fed all my bread to human-formed friends, but i found a crust (after discarding a mouldy slice) at the back of the fridge, and made a medicinal sandwich, and put that out when i went out with the cats' breakfast. i don't know if/when the poorly fox might come back and eat it.
while it was here i took some photos of it with
mymouse's camera:
stepping onto the compost box[3]
sitting on the compost boxwalking back through the raspberry canes, before disappearing through the hole in the fence.
[0] advocology[1]
[1] as john refers to it
[2] for those of you who missed/haven't read, joosy and tweety are staying with me again. i'm enjoying having cats-on-loan *smile*
[3] the side that's full and cooking undercover... and consequently nice and warm to sit/lie on i imagine - i see the cats on it too. it's also a good spot to catch the sun earlier in the day, as it comes over the roof of the bungalow.
