my dad just 'phoned me in response to a call he has received from a man he doesn't know, mentioning a woman he hasn't heard of, but tying it all somehow to my name...
and there is a tie. this man is apparently looking for/trying to trace his (filipino) girlfriend who is apparently missing in the philippines, and is in touch with her familiy there, who have given my name (with contact details as my parents' address) as referee to their good name/faith - as i understand it she is the neice of a woman i was penpals with... in our childhood! i think our contact drifted at least 20 years ago *shrug*
i'm due over at my parents' later, so will investigate/clarify/resolve the situation in due course.
in the meantime, i was struck that my first thought was a wary one, linked to the possibility that a woman might wish to become unreachable by a partner *shrug* *sigh*
