just picked up my spare keys from, and thanked, my neighbour pat, who's been looking after the house and house plants while i've been away... and learnt a few things about what's been happening in my absence *winky smile* when i arrived home on tuesday afternoon a passing glance out of the window into the back garden revealed a fence panel replaced and another laying in wait. i rescued the tree from under the lain panel, and disturbed by the injuries it'd sustained ranted a bit to scousecat, and then we went on to conjecture what the fuck was going on *winky smile* i later caught up with randy next-door-that-side who casually said he'd felt like replacing the fence... and seemed equally shocked/surprised in relation to the tree - the fence panel had been upright when he'd left it. it's since in, and we have a rather grand new fence *smile* talking with pat, it turns out that the fence had actually caught fire some how (my suspect is randy's barbeque behind it), to a spectacular extent it seems - with neighbours further up and in the parallel street we back onto aware of it, wathcing it, and discussing what to do about it... including call the fire brigade. apparently randy eventually got it under control, but not before they'd all had concerns for the shed.. and my home.. and next theirs! the best thing... well, one of the best things, about this story is that i had been intending to replace those very fence panels - to the extent of having someone booked to come quote me for the labour on the thursday i was back *grin* the other best thing about this story is my neighbours *grin* it was really nice chatting with pat, simply listening to her tale, and also picking up her, and others', genuine concern and good neighbourlyness. i consider myself to have good neighbours, and to have good relations with them, and i like and enjoy (and actively work towards) that *smile* one final thread to this story is that pat told me they'd resisted having a recent barbeque to my side of their garden, and potentially completing the set, following this recent incident, and the guy who lives in the property my garden backs onto accidentally setting fire to that fence last summer *grin*

home, neighbours
