just reading a bit around that depression meme... "Bipolar is the only depressive disorder that is not heavily skewed toward women." *laughs manically* the environmental factors bearing upon a lot of 'mental health dis-orders' are so glaringly obvious from this one sentence, yet overlooked in amongst the medicalisation and pathologisation that is nicely presented. i recall conversations and reading around the huge parallels within Black 'and other ethnic minority' communities, and the queer communty(ies). it so fucks me off.
