heheheh *grin* i think they are probably a fairly even mix of commercialism and artistic integrity. something i read the other night (the same other night as the blog link) suggested that they know full well what they're up to wrt market and selling themselves, wrt the commercial side. but i also think that they are doing it because they're musicians, artists, performers, and committed to that. looking at some of their kinda 'middle' period stuff there's a move away from the original look (which they've since gone back to - telling perhaps) which i personally don't think was particularly flaterring for MH, and was possibly them trying to shift/shifting their approach, style a little, direction, audience... or maybe trying to shift with their audience... or maybe nothing of the kind. them going back to where they started in many ways may be because that works and that's what people still want them to be - wanting them not to have grown up, wanting to maintian that fairytale - so very much bowing to commercialism. but if they can do what they want/like within that context...? *shrug* all fairly idle speculation on my part *smile*
