11 Month update

Jun 06, 2010 22:38

Wow! It has been a month since I last posted. It has been a very busy month so I shouldn't be surprised. We have been to the zoo, the aquarium, a petting zoo, MSPCA farm, swimming (Maclan's first time) not to mention working on the house to get it ready for the appraisal for refinancing (which went well). Maclan will be turning 1 year old in just a couple of weeks. It is really hard to believe that he is that old already. There is so much to catch everyone up on. Maclan surprised us all a few weeks ago, by stealing a facecloth from my hand and wiping his face. He still does it from time to time, but I still need to do it afterward... he doesn't exactly get everything. lol He is now running! He can roll, throw and catch a ball (the catching is only 1 out of 5 times with a special ball that has holes for fingers, but I'm still impressed since he is only 11 months old!) He is still babbling as much as ever but now he is stringing together the few words he knows to say "hi mama" and "hi ki-e" (kitty). Mostly he still just waves when he wants to say hi though. He has been stubbornly refusing to learn any more signs. I was hoping once he was walking well, that he would start picking up more language. All in time I guess. His favorite food is watermelon these days and he is not a fan of any of the meats we've tried. He will tolerate just a few bites of tuna and chicken.

With his birthday coming we have had a few people ask what he needs/wants.  Here are some ideas:
  • He is wearing a size 18 month onsies/shirts and 24 month in shorts/pants for Carters (Jumping Bean runs big, Gerber runs really small). Organic clothing tends to run small and he usually needs the next size up.  He really needs short sleeve onesies white and printed ones to go with shorts and pants that he already has enough of.  Our favorites for quality have come from Baby Gap and Under The Nile, our favorites for price is Carters which Kohl's carries cheap.
  • Brown closed toe sandles size 5 infant
  • Dulpo blocks
  • Our favorite toys are made by "Melissa & Doug" and "Plan Toys" which are safe for Mac to put in his mouth.  He eats EVERYTHING these days.
  • Sectioned suction plates like this: http://www.amazon.com/Booger-Feeding-Collection-Divided-Suction/dp/B00166AQDI/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2QT5SA2WFWYEE&colid=2WROIJRWZIDGT  But just divided plates without suction are fine.  Preferably dishwasher safe.
  • He has 10 teeth now, so I'm in search for a teether that he can get deeper in his mouth.  I'm also looking for cloth and wood books since he can't have any other books unsupervised since he devours them.
You can see video of Mac here: http://www.youtube.com/user/earthymommy

And of course here are some pictures!!!! You can view all of pictures here.

Sitting with a turtle

Mac patted the turtle (which is not real). It was very cute.

Tide pool life

We looked at this tank after Maclan got to touch a starfish and a hermit crab. I think it made him look at the tank differently.

Playtime

After the aquarium, we had some lunch and headed over to the greenway so that the boys could run around. Here Mac is stealing my friend Debbie's hat (he like to steal hats). Her son is a year older and Mac is quickly catching up; he is only about half a head shorter now.

Nice shirt!

Here's Mac in his "Give Peas a Chance" shirt.

The sheep were making some noise, so Mac decided to as well; hence the funny face.

Maclan had so much fun that after 45 minutes he still didn't want to get out.

Excited to pet the goat

It was around this time that we started singing "Old MacDonald" and Maclan's favorite animal sound to imitate is a goat. I wonder if it is because he got so close to one.

Onward!

Mac did this while we were waiting to go into the zoo.

Finger point

Not entirely sure what the L-shaped finger position means but he does it a lot.

All the Toys

Mac likes to play with all the toys at once. Good thing we really don't have that many in the scheme of things.

Analyzing

Determined to find a way out of the room. I know he is thinking to himself, "...if I was just a few inches taller, I could figure out how that door knob works."
