Speaking with your dollar
There is a saying about speaking with your dollar, which means if something's good you buy it, if it isn't, you don't. I've heard people being called to speak with their dollars regarding the long-term decline of Marvel and DC. It has occured to me that people have been speaking with their dollars for twenty years, but Marvel and DC just blame it on other things like the decline of print. They remind me of TSR during the mid-90's when quality was very low and they blamed their lack of sales on Magic and other things. I read an interview with Jim Shooter, once Editor in Chief of Marvel Comics, where he was asked what he would do to improve sales at Marvel. He said something along the lines of "Make better comics!" If only it were so!
