Thanks for the report. Sorry that the LOTR musical was not all you hoped, but at least it had some good features. I'd like to see it someday for the spectacle and because I love musicals and LOTR, so I'm curious to see the combination. I just wish it sounded like it was done better than it is. . .
I think part of my problem is that I am not over-fond of musicals, though I have enjoyed "Joseph" and "Cats", both of which have exceptionally good music. I said nothing about the LOTR music because there is really nothing to say; it was neither good nor bad, just unmemorable. The lack of depth would have mattered less if the music had been better.
I wrote a limerick about this that I am getting ready to post. I hope you don't mind. I won't link this entry unless I hear back from you saying that is OK.

And, in terms of musicals with great music, have you seen Les Miz or Phantom of the Opera? I have a real fondness for Les Miz which I actually saw on my one visit to London and although I didn't enjoy Phantom quite as much, the music is lovely.
