Shoulda Woulda Coulda

With the Iraq occupation drawing to a close amidst the Arab Spring, I can only really wonder about a few things:
  • Would've Saddam fallen the same way all these other dictators without us being involved in any specific way?  Would've waiting eight years really hurt anyone?
  • We could keep on ignoring Iran and kinda laugh off this whole nuclear thing.
  • Bush could have lost in '04 and we could be in a country celebrating six years of liberal freedom?
  • The economic downturn would be almost a like a small sniffle on the economic market and we wouldn't be waking up every day wondering if our nation hasn't suffocated on its record holding debt.
  • The Tea Party nonsense wouldn't exist, we wouldn't have radical rifts between the parties and things would be able to get done in congress without God or belief getting shit all over it.
All this potential, wasted on a war without a purpose or a real reason.  With the passing of the new NDAA, I'm not really sure if any American should be feeling great about themselves.  Especially the ones who didn't vote, and for the ones who did that chose the Red ticket because instead of asking questions, you just ran for the other side.  Well, are you happy with your choices??  Sleep on that while fellow american are being imprisoned for life because of the way they are.  The last time that happened, we entrapped tens of thousands of Japanese citizens into camps for four years, and destroyed the lives of millions caught up in the McCarthy communism witch hunt.
If this country is only as capable as the democracy that supports it, then God help us all.

war, iraq, congress
