A thought occured to me as I read up on the latest on the thwarted terrorist plots in Britain.
As much as I don't want to give any shade of credence to the September 11 attackers, their methods actually make sense. They hijacked planes to use as missiles, case closed.
What I don't understand is why hijackers would want to take down planes over the ocean. In fact, that seems like it would limit the scope of destruction. Is it just to make people scared of flying? People are already scared of flying.
I just wonder sometimes why terrorists pick the specific targets they do. It's quite possible that they're just homicidal maniacs that are following their predecessors simply because it's a safe bet. I mean, clearly they're homicidal maniacs...but maybe the fact that their plan seems badly thought out in terms of purpose has something to do with why they were caught ahead of time.
I don't like thinking about this, really. I wish I had my ukulele with me right now. Jingling renditions of "Queen of the Savages" might be looked down upon at work.
