Jess is gorgeous, belly swollen with their baby, skin stretched tight and but soft to the touch when Sam brushes his fingers down it. Jess always smiles and covers his hand with hers as Sam leans down and kisses right above her belly button.
She’s seven months gone with twins so she’s huge and stuck on bed rest until the babies are ready to come. While Sam wanted the sex of their babies to be a surprise, Jess was too impatient and so now they know - they’re having boys.
Two perfect, precious boys.
“We’ll name one after your brother,” Jess says one night, and Sam smiles, kissing her shoulder and wrapping an arm around her to rest over her belly.
“He’ll love that,” he breathes. He’ll call Dean tomorrow and tell him.

He wakes up. The bed is empty, and he’s back in the grungy motel room he fell asleep in. Jess is dead. Dean is too. Sam’s alone.
Ruby comes out of the bathroom, freshly showered. “Rise and shine, Sammy. We’ve got work to do.”
Sam ignores her and closes his eyes again, trying to find the peace the dream brought him. It doesn’t come back.
