It's about time!

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - The mayor of Holmes Beach tells ABC7 that beginning June 28, fines will be issued for individuals not wearing masks inside local businesses.

The fine will be $250 for your first offense and $500 for the second. The mayor says that the city will be working to educate business owners, residents and guests.

The Manatee County Commission recently decided not to pass a mandate requiring residents to wear mask. Instead they passed an advisory strongly suggesting that individuals wear masks when in public.

I think this is great and about time! Holmes Beach is where my gallery is. When we re-opened June 3, the gallery took many precautions, but only suggested to please wear a mask upon entering. Now it's mandatory and I am so glad! So many down here are nonchalant about what is happening. Since they re-opened the beaches and many other places, the numbers have gone up, but they just don't seem to notice or care!

It's a frightening and surreal time we are living in. Pete and I always wear our masks the few times we do go out to the grocery store, drug store, neighborhood veggie market, doctor's appointments. I still go down to Palma Sola Botanical Park where I am almost always alone. I love it there. Priscilla and I have gone to Myakka River State Park a few times, but rarely ever see anyone, just the wildlife. We took their open air tram ride last time we went. There is seating for about 60 people on two separate cars and P and I sat in one car and the other two passengers sat at the back of the other one. The driver was in her truck pulling the tram. We got to go places in the park that are not open to the public. I got pictures which I'll show in another post.
