The art of scratching the itch and the neck stretch . . .

While at Myakka River State Park recently, I watched an Ibis for awhile trying to do what I figured was scratch the back of his head the only way he knew how. He had his eyes closed, seeming to thoroughly enjoy the pleasure of that luxuriously good feeling of when an itch gets scratched. After a few minutes, he opened his eyes, saw me standing there and looked directly at me, then slowly meandered away through the water. I moved on to let him enjoy his morning rituals in privacy.
