a little of the Christmas green . . .
I got a nice little surprise this morning. When I got up, from the bathroom window I could see the silhouette of two birds pretty far away sitting on the very top branch of the neighbor's tree. They didn't look familiar like most of our little back yard birds. I thought they might be Cedar Waxwings. Temps were in the 40s this morning and so I put on long pants and sweatshirt, grabbed my long lens and headed out back. Just as I got there, one of the birds landed in the feeder. It was a Nanday parrott. The other one, perhaps it's mate, stayed in the tree and kept watch. I crept around behind things, but as soon as I got out in the open and I was spotted, the one in the tree started squawking like crazy and they both took off. But what a nice simple little surprise for a few moments.
